We’re thrilled to invite you to the “MEET THE MAKER” Festive Soirée, a joyful evening of mingling, connection, creativity, and holiday cheer. Be sure to RSVP and join the fun! Space is limited, so your RSVP is mandatory.

Dialogue for the Ear and Eye: A Monthly Multi-disciplinary Arts Series by Joanne Pagano Weber and Bruce Weber

Date & Time: Tuesday December 2nd from 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Place: 9W Diner, 3 Simmons Plaza

Additional Information: Special guests this month are: Sarah Stitham, Kate McGloughlin, and Nancy Kline. Guests present their work for about twenty minutes each, followed by an open discussion/Q&A. There is an open mic sign up with a three artist maximum and strict three minute limit per artist.

Thurs., Dec. 4, 7pm: Cuban Guaracha to Trova: Pedro Luis Ferrerr A living legend whose songs during his long career have been recorded by such artists as Celia Cruz, Omara Portuondo (Buena Vista Social Club), and more. Daughter Lena Ferrer joins on vocals and multiple instruments. 

Sat., Dec. 6, 8pm: Cowboy Songs of the American West: Hilary Gardner and The Lonesome Pines Celebrating the romantic mythology of the American West: 1930s-40s singing cowboys; Great American Songbook, jazz, and film composers; and more. Pre-show conversation. 

Sun., Dec. 7, 5pm: Adam Rudolph's Hu Vibrational Vibe Ride: A Sonic Mandala Meditation Layering global rhythms from Africa, Asia, South America, and beyond with spirituals, jazz, trip-hop, and electronica into a soundscape Rudolph calls "sonic mandala." Pre-show conversation. 

Tues., Dec. 9: Edible Aesthetics: A Creative Food Workshop and Tasting with Chef Leah Guadagnoli Chef/artist Guadagnoli discusses her unique approach to growing, cooking, preparing, and thinking about food, with a prepared meal to follow (included with ticket). 

Fri., Dec. 12, 7pm: John Street Jam: Music in the Round Regional musicians play in the round, performing both originals and classics in the genres of folk, bluegrass, country, and more. 

Sat., Dec. 13, 8pm: Miguel Zenón & Luis Perdomo: El Arte Del Bolero Jazz luminaries present sublime interpretations of the Latin American songbook drawing from their celebrated albums, El Arte del Bolero, Volumes 1 and 2; the latter received a Grammy.

Sun., Dec 14, 5pm: Toshi Reagon & Friends: Singer, composer, and activist Toshi Reagon brings her powerful voice, fearless spirit, and genre-bending sound—spanning folk, rock, blues, gospel, and soul. 

Thurs., Dec 18, 7pm: Jenny Scheinman’s All Species Parade plays Field Notes with Bill Frisell + more Playful, ensemble-first jazz, and slow burn grooves. Featuring Violinist Jenny Scheinman, Bill Frisell (guitar), Carmen Staaf (piano), Tony Scherr (bass), Kenny Wollesen (drums).

Monoprint Workshop with Instructor Suzanne Stokes

Saturday, December 6th from 1:00pm - 5:00pm

 

This workshop will focus on how to create monoprints, which are one-of-a-kind prints where an image made with ink is transferred onto a variety of papers. Unlike most printmaking techniques which allow for multiple originals, monoprinting creates one single, unique image at a time. The beauty of this technique lies in its spontaneity and its allowance for combinations of printmaking, painting and various mark making methods that can be printed multiple times in a variety of ways. $175 Fee and limited availability

Mondays from 5:00pm - 8:00pm 

Additional Information:

MONDAY Figure Drawing Open Studio Sessions for experienced adult artists with a live model in a supportive atmosphere. No instructor. Bring your own art supplies/drawing boards. There are a few easels and we also have tables and chairs. Poses for 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20 min. Limited to 15 people per session. $25 a drop-in, $80 ($20 a class) for a 4 session punch card, Venmo, CC, check or cash.

Feast of Friends: Celebrating 60 Years of The Doors: a fundraiser for Upstate Films

Date & Time: December 7th from 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Additional Information: Tickets are $25 pre-sale, $30 day of show. The legendary tribute band Feast of Friends will electrify the Orpheum stage, channeling the spirit and sound of The Doors. Known for their "spooky accurate" and"powerful and electrifying" performances, Feast of Friends brings the music to life with passion and precision—no wigs, no costumes, just pure Doors energy.The evening will feature a special conversation with iconic rock photographer Elliott Landy, who will share stories and rare insights from his time working with The Doors.

What's Next? The Hard Work of Hope, with Michael Ansara

Date & Time: Thursday, 12/4 at 6:00pm

Location: Inquiring Minds Bookstore, 65 Partition St.

Additional Info: Author, activist, and organizer Michael Ansara will discuss his new book The Hard Work of Hope and his time fighting for civil rights and against the Vietnam War in the 60's and 70's, in conversation with poet Will Nixon. Reading and interview followed by open community discussion.

An Evening with Ron Carter

Date & Time: Thursday, 12/11 at 6:00pm

Location: The Orpheum Theater, 156 Main St.

Special Info: The legendary jazz bassist Ron Carter will be joined by American jazz tenor saxophonist, bandleader, and educator, Javon Jackson. Together, they will take an audio/visual journey to discuss his incredible career, including his work with the late Jack DeJohnette.
