Suggested donation $15 adults/$7 kids 12 & under.The annual puppet theater extravaganza performed by our company members and Theater Arts Intensive students. Live music paired with larger-than-life mask & puppet theater dazzle audiences young and old alike. Featuring stories of the past and reflections on the present as told by a variety of wondrous paper-mache characters.

Guests present their work for about twenty minutes each, followed by an open discussion/Q&A. There is an open mic sign up with a three artist maximum and strict three minute limit per artist.

Future Systems - Michael McGrath
This exhibition takes place from August 8 - September 12, 2026Opening reception: Saturday, August 12, 4-6 PM
These paintings continue an evolving rural high fantasy mythology built from rural landscapes, recurring characters, and quiet acts of communication. This body of work focuses on light as something that can be generated, carried, and received, a kind of language, energy, memory, or healing that moves between people, animals, and the landscape.
Drawing from personal memory, folklore, and observation, the paintings exist just outside ordinary reality, where familiar places follow a slower rhythm and unseen connections become visible. Each work adds another chapter to an unfolding mythology that uses imagined worlds to reflect the present from a slight distance.

Private artists’ studios throughout the village and town of Saugerties
This year’s tour will feature 46 artists who are eager to welcome you into their private studios where you will see completed work and works in progress in a wide array of mediums and styles. Whatever your interest, the tour has something for you – painters working in oils, acrylics, watercolors and inks, as well as with digital tools; collage makers and printmakers, photographers; and, sculptors working in steel or industrial debris and found objects, or ceramic artists whose work ranges from figurative to functional with a bit of funk thrown in for good measure. Any and all materials can be transformed into artfully created pieces, such as handcrafted furniture and home accessories made with high quality hardwoods as well as vintage barn wood. And, of course, mixed media artists that like to mix-it-up as well as art created from cast glass and light. Let the Saugerties Artists Studio Tour make you a collector of the finest art produced in Saugerties by Saugerties artists.No fee, no registration required. Free and open to the public. Dramatic readings from award winning Marilyn Nelson’s Augusta Savage: The Shape of a Sculptor’s Life, performed by acclaimed stage-screen actress Sharon Washington. Never-before-heard short stories written by Savage while in Saugerties, recovered from the Schomburg Center archives and performed by local actors, and Following the Footsteps of Savage, a visual rendering.

Shedding Season - Ben Pinder
This exhibition takes place from August 8 - September 12, 2026Opening reception: Saturday, August 8, 4-6 PM
Working in video, drawing, painting, sculpture, textile, sound, and performance, I imagine a gentle rebirth of masculinity and male-coded activities, clothing, and behavior. Discarding and subverting traditional masculinity, subjects are left uninhibited in cosmic and ambiguous spaces, like new constellations of unknown deities. Interactions and activities could be perceived as combative or playful, collaborative or contentious.
In videos, vividly colored shapes undulate and shift from landscapes to fabric prints to anonymous patterned men in reflective masks dancing in reverie to original musical compositions. In paintings and drawings, figures, landscapes, starfields and textured fabric backgrounds are combined to form both earth-bound marvels and galactic wonders. People, animals, and combinations of both dance or pose majestically amid ambiguous backgrounds of stars, distorted gold leaf, or patches of brightly colored fur. The stretched fur fabric pieces conjure both soft fuzzy domiciles and also the stretched skins of hunted mythical beasts. The colorful portrayal of clouds, trees, and figures set amongst a fantastic field of stars elevates our broken world to a bright, ideal future. Always, the soft, peaceful, interior domesticity of home life is entwined with traditional masculine norms. -

Roots and Wings at Spiral House is a two-day leadership and social-emotional learning experience for boys of color entering grades 4–7. If your child falls outside this age range but is interested in participating, please contact Amy White at amywhite@gse.harvard.edu for inquiries.Set within the inspiring natural environment of Spiral House Park, this immersive program uses woodland trails, ecological landscapes, and sculptural spaces as a living classroom where participants build leadership, communication, and self-regulation skills while preparing for the upcoming school year.
